La Poste, ce grand lien des esprits, pénètre aujourd'hui jusque dans le fond des déserts
-- A. de Tocqueville, Democracy in America, 1835
The electronic environment has been developed to serve as the electronic library, post office and group work engine of The Commons. It offers a convenient, convivial and inventive means for people and groups around the world to join forces to explore new thinking and develop new approaches to the critical issues of technology and society. As with any good public library, all are welcome and admission is free. It is open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, and will become just as useful as you make it.
Organization and use of the electronic environment:
First Words: The electronic environment explained. Where we are, and where we hope to go.
Work in Progress Current and future e/e programs and sites
Toolkit: [Composite page, to be disaggregated into: Manual, Tools, and Sources]
Working the Web: Hot linking to related World Wide Web sites.
Menology: Events, programs, conferences (real and virtual) you may wish to keep your eye on
Sponsors: electronic environment partners, sponsors and collaborators.
The Forum: Discussions and proposals for research, action, collaboration. Offers of services and support.
