Einstein is an international partnership program which was formally launched in September 1996 as a collaborative undertaking in the wake of the Valladolid Assembly on Lifelong Learning in the Information Society: Combating Exclusion through New Technologies of Learning. The present World Wide Web site is being developed to provide a convenient introduction to and contact point for Einstein and its related partner programs, including coverage of the first regional Einstein pilot program that is currently being initiated on a cooperative basis in the Basque Country. It is intended that this site and the program behind it will gradually expand to encompass new partnerships in the areas to which it is dedicated, in cooperation with schools, neighborhood and community organizations, and concerned individuals in many places. Educators, parents, concerned public agencies, journalists, citizens and others interested in sharing their ideas, participating in or supporting this program are invited to contact us for additional background materials and information.
